Artist/master carver, Ron Lockhart (late) from Orillia, Ontario.
This decoy was from a pair of First Place Marsh hunting decoys competition held at the Darlington Waterfowl Tournament held in Oshawa, Ont. 1975.
Construction: All cork body with wooden head. It is slightly hollowed out with a wooden base ring with attached wooden keel to offer strength and ballast, and decoy line tethering.
The decoy has very graceful lines and is very impressive in the water.
This decoy was presented to me at the Tournament that day and it has been stored in a smoke free environment since.
Ron was not only a Master Carver but a fine flat canvas Painter also with commissioned works in homes here in Canada, the USA and off shore.
Truly a highly collectible decoy with plenty of great eye appeal.
Decoy measures 17 ½” inches by 7” inches by 7” inches high
$350.

VINTAGE RED HEAD DRAKE DUCK DECOY # D-57
A solid smooth body decoy in a swimming pose.
Slight combing on the back, with painting faded.
Wooden head with yellow painted eyes.
I picked this decoy up over 40 years ago, in Toronto’s Ashbridges Bay, marsh. It was half buried in marsh gunk.
The decoy is solid ,well made, and in good condition, considering the circumstances when found, attesting to the carver’s diligence in creating a quality working decoy that has remained durable all these years.
It has the Toronto carvers look to it. Perhaps from the school of the 3 W’s, Weir, Wells, or Warren ?
This is truly one good looking ducky decoy that would make a nice addition to any collection.
Carver unknown, perhaps a diamond in the rough?
$280.
