Stained carvings are made of cedar - Brown cypress and regular cypress. These carvings would be nice in any collection. It does away with the usual painted decoys and are in a class of their own because it is the grain of wood or the shine that brings out these carvings. These carvings are usually sought after because of the grain or color of the different types of wood.
Blue Crab -Stained
This is a carving of a Louisiana Blue Crab. Carved out of cedar. Notice the realistic detail of the legs. The claws are highly detailed and is in an opened position. Won second place best of show at the Cajun Heritage Festival in Larose , Louisiana. Crab measures 15 inches long - 12 1/2 inches wide - 5 inches high. You can tell by the markings on the bottom that it is a big male crab. A dozen of these in a boiling pot would make any ones mouth water. Just a small example of the life we have here in Louisiana.

This is a beautiful teal carved out of brown cypress. Brown cypress is sunken cypress that has been in water for several years. The color of the wood is a beautiful brown color.
