The Gulf Coast Decoy Club is a new Louisiana - based nonprofit collecting and carving club dedicated to the preservation of waterfowl decoys while promoting the unique talents and techniques of its carvers and their history.
It is our intent to make the club as regional as possible. We hope to include collectors and carvers from all along the Gulf Coast. As we all know, it's important to promote the art of carving, our unique carving style and technique needs to be shared with other carvers and collectors in our area.
The GCDC will produce an annual Carver's Guide. The 2009 Carver's Guide will be a full color catalog showcasing your work with decoy collectors. Each page in the guide will have two or three paragraphs of each carvers work, along with a description and your contract and price information. The book will be marketed by the club, on the internet, and at all area shows. If you are a carver and you would like your work in the 2009 Guide, please see the attached information sheets. The cost for a page in the guide is $35, but SPACE IN THE GUIDE IS LIMITED. It's our goal to introduce thousands of collectors to Louisiana's waterfowl decoys through the annual distribution of this book.
In addition, in 2010, the club hopes to sponsor a show. But we hope to have a contest, perhaps an auction, and of course lots of decoys and related items for sale. Our newsletter will be in production in the upcoming months. The newsletter will give up - to date information on Louisiana decoys at auction events and events related to waterfowl across the country. And last but not lease, the club's website is under construction. we hope in the next month to launch the site and invite you to share your comments and experiences. The web site is www.gulfcoastdecoyclub.org
What's all this cost? The club dues will be $15 per year or $40 for three years. And with your paid membership you will receive the club's embroided baseball cap - free. It has the club's logo on it and says "GCDC 2009" on the side.Supplies of the 2009 caps are limited and when they're gone ............ They're gone.
