This is a greenwing teal hen decoy in what I call a pancake decoy.The reason it is carved like this is sometimes when you are doing some decoys you wind up with a piece of wood that is not big enough to make a full size decoy but too large to make a miniature. So you just go ahead and carve a decoy with the wood that is left.
